Songjiang: an ideal place for spring outings

Blooming flowers have set off the Spring Outing Festival in Songjiang which will continue until early June.

Chenshan Botanical Garden will hold a Chinese rose exhibition from April 27 to May 20, displaying over 800 varieties of Chinese roses and art installations made with roses in eight parts with a combined area of 5 hectares.

Music performances, wedding shows, a photography contest and a lecture on Chinese rose cultivation will be held in the botanical garden as well.

Xinbang Peony Garden, the largest such in Shanghai, is one of the festival venues and attracts visitors with more than 40,000 peony plants. Some are over 100 years old.

Songjiang Square Pagoda Park and Zuibaichi Park are good places to admire azalea flowers in April and May, while Xiangwei Rose Garden will be blooming with roses between May and mid June.
